Reston, VA - “Run with Alan Webb”, the 8th annual benefit fun-run for Neediest Kids, is coming to Reston Town Center on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 28. Olympian, US record-holder for the fastest mile (3:46), and local hero Alan Webb will lead the races, for children through high school age. A suggested donation of $5 is encouraged for participation, with all proceeds benefiting Neediest Kids. Advance registration and more information are available by e-mail, info@neediestkids.org, and at www.neediestkids.org. On November 28, onsite check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and races start at 8:30 a.m. There will be several races by age category, including a “tot trot”, plus refreshments, awards, and special prize drawings. Run with Alan Webb is supported by corporate sponsors: Reston Town Center, Booz Allen Hamilton, Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers, and Rio Grande Café.

Alan Webb, a graduate of South Lakes High School in Reston, has led this annual run since it began in 2001, when he was a freshman in college. He has returned each year as a devoted supporter of the charity, Neediest Kids. “This race has a dual benefit,” explaining that the event provides important funding for Neediest Kids, while it also promotes a healthy lifestyle to the children who participate in the fun-run. “You have to be there to experience how it tugs at your heart strings,” adds Webb. “It’s truly rewarding, and shows that you get when you give.” More than 600 children ran with Webb in the 2007 races at Reston Town Center.
